Why do odors remain in the fridge?
Most frost-free refrigerators use an automatic timer to activate the defrost heater approximately every eight hours to clear frost build up on the freezer evaporator. During the defrost cycle, the heater generates heat in the evaporator section from 0o F to 75o F, lasting up to 30 minutes, warming the plastic liner and creating odors.
