Viral List Building Tactics
07/15/2008 - By JO MARK A good list is the cornerstone of a solid profitable online business. It is not the only method of building a business, but it is one of the easiest tactics to build a business that grows every month without requiring you to work harder or
put in extra hours. In fact, the larger your list, the less you need to work to bring in the same (or higher) profits. And this is the reason a list is so important.
I build my list from people who are sincerely interested in my offerings. Almost all of my marketing efforts direct people to my sign in page. Once there, they see a short sales page highlighting what they will get by subscribing to my list. On average, about 30% of the people who visit my sign in page will become subscribers.
To leverage my list building efforts, I use viral list building tactics. I do this by offering several free viral reports that my subscribers can give away. They can offer them as a bribe to get people to sign up for their list, they can give them away as a bonus along with products that they are selling, or they can give them away as a free gift. Basically, they can do whatever they want with these free reports.
But the key to a successful viral list building campaign is the information inside. To be effective, your report has to include good solid information that people perceive as being valuable. The more valuable your report, the better it will work for you. So, when putting together one of these reports, provide some real value in it.
The second key to a successful offering is the viral component. Your free report should include, depending on the length, between three and five links to your sign in page. The most effective links are disguised as articles (or small chapters) in your report. Try to work in your link so that it doesn’t look like a blatant advertisement. My best viral results come from links that look natural within the chapter.
