Keeping Warm in an Apartment

While no one likes to be cold, the cost of heating is a major expense, so what can we do to reduce it and still remain warm?
Air conditioning experts tell us that rather than turning up the heat, we need to turn the fan up to circulate the available heat more efficiently. Since a fan costs less than extra heating, this will contribute to your saving plan.
Another way to remain warm without receiving an exorbitant bill is to close off the rooms that are not in use. Bedrooms don't need to be kept warm during the day, neither do bathrooms or the laundry. Simply shutting those doors or closing the vents to closets will help you save. Opening bedroom doors a little while before bedtime will ensure the room does not feel icy when you enter. If you have two or more storeys, be sure to close the vents on the top storey because heat rises and will escape that way.
Using rubber-backed curtains on the windows and draught stoppers on outside doors will also help to keep the heat inside. Make sure there are no cracks around the windows or doors. Even a little crack allows your warm air to escape.
